The south Essex magistrates have been busy again with a range of cases.
Here's our latest round up of cases in front of the magistrates.
Francois Thomas, 28, of Victoria Avenue, Southend was in court for a driving offence.
On January 22 in Laindon he drove a motor vehicle, at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour and the speed recorded was 61 miles per hour.
He was fined £146, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, pay costs of £90 and he was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 6 months.
Ervin Gashi, 19, of Rushley Close, Great Wakering was sentenced for knife possession.
On June 12 in Southend he had with him, without good reason or lawful authority, in a public place Whitegate Road an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed, namely a machete.
He was committed to prison for 8 months suspended for 18 months, ordered to complete 40 days of rehabilitation activity requirment and 200 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £156 and costs of £145 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Lawrie Baird, 28, of Celandine Close, Billericay was sentenced for a driving offence.
On November 12 last year in Hutton he drove a car at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour and the speed recorded was 47 miles per hour.
He fined £100, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, pay costs of £90 and was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 6 months.
Paul King, 49, of Hollands Walk, Basildon was in court for a speeding offence.
On September 2 2021 in Leigh he drove a car at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour and the speed recorded was 50 miles per hour.
He was fined £120 and his driving record endorsed with 6 points.
Nathan Burrell, 36, of Cochilhill, Rochford was sentenced for driving without due care and attention.
On December 10 in Brentwood he drove a car on the A12 without due care and attention in that the defendant has failed to see traffic ahead slowing in lane one, in turn colliding into the rear of the tailback, causing damage and slight injury.
He was fined £364, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £36, pay costs of £110, and his driving record endorsed with 5 points.
