A SUPERMARKET carpark has been “flooded with raw sewage for over a week” leaving customers disgusted and dismayed.
The Asda carpark at Bailsdon’s Eastgate Shopping Centre is overpowered by the smell of sewage leaking from a drain near the ticket machines.
Bosses at the supermarket giant have promised the issue – which customers say has been ongoing for more than a week – will be fixed immediately.

“For over a week now there has been raw sewage flooding the car park,” customer and Basildon resident Joanne Douglas said.
“It was so bad on Monday you could actually see what looked like faeces coming out of the drain.
“The smell was horrendous, I’m not kidding I could have thrown up.”
Ms Douglas claims she raised the issue with store staff on Monday but was told it would be weeks before it was fixed.
Tim Fernon, 44, of Langdon Hills, reported the problem to staff on Wednesday, November 9.
“I was told it could be weeks until it is fixed when I enquired in the store,” Mr Fernon said.
After being approached by the Echo on Tuesday, supermarket bosses have jumped into action and have pledged to fix the problem that same day.
“The smell was absolutely awful,” Mr Fernon continued.
“I was so shocked when I got out of my car and I could see this pool of brown liquid next to the drain – I couldn’t believe my eyes!
“The fact that this is a food store makes it extra disgusting. I won’t be returning until it is properly fixed.
“Nobody wants to be greeted by the smell of faeces when doing their weekly shop.”
Basildon resident Roy Davis, who photographed the leak on Tuesday, said: “As you can see it was not screened or fenced off, and was just out in the open which seemed a bit of a health hazard to me.”
An Asda spokesman said: “We are aware of a leakage issue at our Eastgate Shopping Centre, Basildon store car park.
“Maintenance has been called and we expect this issue to be fixed today.”
