The south Essex magistrates have been busy again with a range of cases.

Here's our latest round up of cases in front of the magistrates.

Derek Hyde, 72, of London Road, Westcliff was in court for assault allegations.

It's alleged that on January 14 in Westcliff he assaulted a woman by beating her.

He's been remanded on unconditional bail until March 30 for trial at Southend Magistrates Court.

It's also alleged that on the same day he assaulted a man by beating him.

He's been remanded on unconditional bail until the same date for trial at the court.

Shaun Boyden, 42, of St James Avenue, Thorpe Bay was in court for using or threatening violence.

On August 22 in Southend he used or threatened unlawful violence towards another and your conduct was such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety.

A community order was made and he was ordered to complete an alcohol abstinence for 120 days, he was ordered not to enter an address in Maya Close Shoebury, participate in an accredited programme for 30 days, ordered to complete 20 days of rehabilitation activity requirement and 150 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £114 and pay costs of £145 to the Crown Prosecution Service and an application was made for benefit deductions and the sum to be recovered £259.

Leon French, 48, of Chelsea Avenue, Southend was in court for entering a building to steal.

Between May 28 2020 and 29 in Rochford he entered as a trespasser part of a building, namely Redcroft outerbuilding, with intent to steal.

He was discharged conditionally for 12 months, and told to pay compensation of £100, a surcharge to fund victim services of £22, costs of £145 to the Crown Prosecution Service and an application made for benefit deductions. Sum to be recovered £267.

Francois Thomas, 28, of Victoria Avenue, Southend was in court for a driving offence.

On January 22 in Laindon he drove a motor vehicle, at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour and the speed recorded was 61 miles per hour.

He was fined £146, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, pay costs of £90 and he was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 6 months.

Ervin Gashi, 19, of Rushley Close, Great Wakering was sentenced for knife possession.

On June 12 in Southend he had with him, without good reason or lawful authority, in a public place Whitegate Road an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed, namely a machete.

He was committed to prison for 8 months suspended for 18 months, ordered to complete 40 days of rehabilitation activity requirment and 200 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £156 and costs of £145 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
