A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after a man sustained two puncture wounds to his chest.

Essex Police officers investigating an assault are asking for the public’s help following an incident.

Officers were called to London Road in Benfleet at 6pm on Thursday to an alleged assault.

The victim, a man in his twenties has sustained two puncture wounds to his chest, which were believed to have been caused during an altercation in which the suspect was believed to have been armed with a knife.

A man, 21, was arrested on suspicion of GBH and released on bail until Wednesday, January 2023.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called to London Road following an assault at 6pm on Thursday, November 17.

“Officers attended and located the victim, a man 20s, who had sustained two puncture wounds to his chest, believed to have occurred during an altercation in which the suspect was believed to have been armed with a knife.

“A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH and released on bail until Wednesday 18 January 2023.
