AN ELECTRONIC entrepreneur is set to launch an innovative new mobile phone app which will help drivers find the cheapest fuel in their area.

James Woollcott, a 30-year-old from Southend, has launched a GoFundMe to help him get past the final stages of a new fuel app which will help you find the most affordable fuel as residents battle through a cost-of-living crisis.

It will be tailored depending on your car, how much fuel you need, and whether it is cheaper to drive to a petrol station further away from home due to cheaper petrol prices.

Mr Woollcott currently works part-time in customer service but is pushing for a career change.

After struggling to afford petrol himself, and seeing many others in his position, he found you it was possible to save money on fuel by driving further to a slightly cheaper station.

His app, called ‘Fuel Finder’ is at the development stage, and should be operational in the next two months.

James said: “Prices are ridiculous, and horribly high still.

“Some places are owned by big places, then you get odd little petrol stations that are privately owned, and sometimes those you get the savings off; having the ability at a glance to find those, find the cheapest place could be game changing.

“So I started to calculate the actual cost of fuel when you include the journey to the fuel station, and this opened my eyes to the saving that could be had by driving just five minutes further to a slightly cheaper station.

“The app will work out for drivers the best place to get petrol, which is tailored exactly for drivers and their vehicle so they can be assured that they have got the most fuel for their money.”

James has taught himself app design and coding, and only needs investment to get the app “over the line”.

He added: “I am looking to launch it in the next two months, free to the public, no subscription, just free on the app store.

“But I just need a few more funds to help me continue to run and pull in all the data going forward.”
