A PLANT shop has expanded its offering by opening a “tropical Colombian coffee shop” on site so customers can browse the array of plants while sipping on a fresh cuppa.
Anna’s Plants originally opened as an online business during the first Covid lockdown in 2020, before increasing demand saw the owners open a permanent shop in Leigh’s Broadway in February 2021.
Now the business is expanding to offer coffee, cakes, and various other sweet treats, as well as their wide range of plants.
Operations manager Lisa Stapleton said: “We wanted to open a Colombian coffee, not just to serve coffee but to provide a unique and interesting experience.
“We have plants covering the area that you can buy, and it creates a jungle like atmosphere. I’ve had customers tell me that it’s summer all the time here.”

The shop sources its authentic Colombian coffee through a British company called Hermanos, which imports the coffee straight from Colombia and roasts them in the UK.
Lisa added: “It’s such unique-tasting coffee and aroma, that goes down quite smoothly. We wanted the experience in our shop to feel authentic.”
The plant shop has become increasingly popular since opening, selling their plants at below market value.
The flowers and plants are sourced from growers in the Netherlands and Britain, with their Christmas trees being grown by British planters.
The plant shop is also trying to help other businesses in the area and have a daily stall that traders can book for a small fee.
Lisa said: “Local businesses are struggling against a lot of these big chains and corporations such as Amazon, and it seems like it’s getting harder for us. Especially during these hard times, we need to do all we can to help and lift one another.”
