Two roads and two pavements in Southend are planned for repairs and resurfacing this month as the council continues it £10m highways investment programme.
Works for the following roads and pavements are planned throughout December:
Roads
Snakes Lane - Starting December 6 for 1 night - David Lloyd to Eastwoodbury Lane
London Road - Starting December 15 for 3 nights - Hadleigh Road to Lime Avenue
Pavements
Entire length of Rochester Drive - Starting this month for about 9 weeks
Entire length of Stromness Road - Starting this month for about 5 weeks
All road closures will be signposted two weeks before work takes place.
Work is dependent on the weather, as crews are not able to lay roads in adverse weather.
Steven Wakefield, councillor responsible for highways, transport and parking, said: “I am pleased to see the significant investment into our roads and pavements continue, with the agreed £10m investment leading to 47 roads and 54 pavements being resurfaced in this financial year.
“We have two roads and pavements scheduled to begin resurfacing during December. In addition to this we are offering our residents a discount for dropped curb installation outside their homes, if the footpath outside the home is being resurfaced.
“We are absolutely committed to improving our roads and pavements to ensure local people can travel in and around Southend safely, and we will continue to invest in our roads so that they reach the standards our new city deserves.”
