A YELLOW weather warning has been issued for parts of Essex amid a forecast for some snow, rain and freezing conditions.
The Met Office has issued a warning for Southend and Essex due to an expected a period of rain and snow that could lead to frozen surfaces.
People are being warned about an increased chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces, icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, and a chance that road, air and rail services could be disrupted or delayed.
The warning is in place from 3am on Sunday, December 18, until 2pm the same day.
The weather warning says: "A period of rain and snow mixed falling on frozen surfaces will lead to icy conditions causing some travel disruption."
It adds a list of conditions which are expected:
- Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
- Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
- There is a chance that road, air and rail services could be disrupted or delayed
