Brave fundraisers took to the chilly waves for the annual Southend Boxing Day Dip.
The event held by the Southend RNLI drew large numbers of people with many in fancy dress who took the annual chilly dip for the emergency service.
There was plenty of festive cheer on Southend beach as the runners helped collect vital donations for the emergency service.
There were two large groups who went into the sea for the event on Jubilee Beach and the Southend RNLI posted videos and images on Facebook of the popular event.
This was the seven annual Southend Boxing Day Swim hosted by the emergency service and entries to the event closed on Christmas Eve.
Swimmers were asked to donate £6 per person for the swim and it was then £25 on the day for each entry into the event.
