DETERMINED Michael Knowles - who had his leg amputated after a cancer diagnosis - has begun to walk again.

Michael, 12, from Canvey, was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma back in February after complaining of leg pain.

He started 14 cycles of chemotherapy, but on cycle 9 due to how close the tumour was to the nerve, Michael chose to go through with knee amputation.

in August Michael had his leg amputation, and by October he was allowed to ring the bell after being given the all clear.

Despite everything Michael has faced this year, he is now already learning to walk again with his new prosthetic.

His mum Sarah Thorpe, 32, said: “Every person who has met Michael has said how amazing he is.

“He made lots of decisions no one should made at that age, and I am beyond proud of him.”
