INSPIRATIONAL teenager Scarlett Pearson ran more than 55 miles during November to raise money for a heart charity in memory of her cousin.
Scarlett, a 13-year-old from Benfleet, committed to running 3km every day for the 30 days of November to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
- As we come to the end of 2022, we have selected eight children from across south Essex who have gone above and beyond this year to help others or achieve something great.
Sadly, her cousin, Scott Langston, 38, died suddenly in September this year.
In memory of him, Scarlett raised £1321 for the British Heart Foundation following a 90km challenge.

Despite running the 3km every day after school, Scarlett still continued to attend the running club at school and outside, so actually ran more than 120km during November.
Her mum Vicki Largent said: “I am so very proud of her.
“For such a young girl, she has shown such inspiration, kindness, and determinations. She has worked so hard and never complained once.
“This was something Scarlett decided to do off her own back and I am immensely proud of how committed she was to raise money for such a worthy cause. She completed 90km in around the area, and at time it was some pretty tumultuous conditions.”
