A FAMILY has been left devastated after their 14-year-old son spent Christmas in hospital in an induced coma after suffering a “random fit” at his Southend home.
Diane and Conroy Nash, the parents of 14-year-old Jayden from Southend, have been left heartbroken after he suffered the fit on November 26 and has been in hospital since.
Jayden was born with Down’s Syndrome, but lived a happy, healthy and normal teenage life until suffering the fit.

His dad found him in the midst of a seizure in his bed after he came home from school.
His parents immediately called an ambulance and Jayden was rushed to Southend Hospital.
However, due to the extreme fitting he had to be put into an induced coma, and transferred to the Royal London Hospital, where he remains now.
Since being transported to the hospital Jayden has suffered two cardiac arrests, and a number of strokes.
Jayden has also since been diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and Moyamoya, both rare conditions in themselves, but it’s even rarer to be diagnosed with both of them.
A very close friend of the family, Lynne Reynolds has spoken on the family’s behalf about this devastating situation.
She told the Echo: “Both his parents are beside themselves with worrying. It is the not knowing and how quickly life changed for them.
“It is so scary.
“Jayden came home from school on that day and was being his normal cheeky self.
“He went upstairs and went quiet, so his dad went to check on him and he was found fitting in the bed.
“Life just changed for them all from that moment, and it is just devastating.”
Lynne, along a few other friends, has also set up a GoFundMe to help support the family at this tragic and devastating time.
She said: “We are trying to raise funds to help the family manage life, getting back and forth to the hospital, and also for any equipment Jayden is going to need to help support him in the long-term.
“Jayden is a 14-year-old boy who was the life and soul of the party and amused everyone with his cheeky antics before this all happened.
“His parents are fighters, but I have never seen them looks so helpless.
“Diane is always the first to help others and never asks for help, but this has completely broken her.
“It is devastating.”
