KIND Lewis Gould, 12, has been learning to help care for his grandad this year after he suffered a life-changing bleed on the brain.
Lewis, from Benfleet, has gone above and beyond this year to help support his mum as a carer for his grandad.
In March, Lewis’ grandad, Barrie Prouse, suffered a bleed on the brain and as a result he was no longer able to live alone, so moved in.
- As we come to the end of 2022, we have selected eight children from across south Essex who have gone above and beyond this year to help others or achieve something great.
His mum, Zoe Gould, said: “We live in a two-bedroom bungalow, so his grandad stays in our front room.
“But Lewis has never once complained about not being able to use the space anymore, and that his friends can’t come round and play.
“He is such as selfless child that puts everyone first.
“Lewis does everything he can to support me too and if I have a bad day, he tells me to take a break and he will make his Grandad a coffee and cake.
“He has even gone to the extreme and helped empty my dad’s catheter.
“He is such a special boy, who takes on so much for someone his age, and I am so proud.”
