AMAZING Isobel Hemmings took on a 10,000 keepie-ups challenge despite her cancer diagnosis.
Isobel, a 15-year-old from Thundersley, was diagnosed with germ cell cancer in May after finding a large lump in her stomach.
- AS we come to the end of 2022, we have selected eight children from across south Essex who have gone above and beyond this year to help others or achieve something great.
Thankfully, she underwent a successful operation to remove a tumour the size of a rugby ball that had grown on her ovary, but in November she was then told the cancer had spread to her lungs.
However, Isobel was already part-way through a 10,000 keepie-ups challenge for MacMillian that she was doing as a thank you for supporting her.
So, despite having to now have more treatment and increased tiredness, Isobel decided to continue to do the challenge.
She has now completed the challenge and raised more than £3,500. She even received a visit from British Freestyle Football Champion, Liv Cooke.
Mum, Deborah Hemmings, said: “Liv Cooke came and completed the last 1000 of her 10,000 with her.
“I am amazingly proud of how Isobel has handled the whole thing.
“She has had some low moments but she has not let it take her sparkle, she is amazing and an inspiration.”
