A FUNDRAISER has been launched for the family of a man who died after being assaulted in a pub.

Dave Peck, 51, was killed in a fatal attack in the Lamb and Lion Pub in Station Road, Westcliff, on December 23.

The pub has announced it will remain closed until after Mr Peck’s funeral and it is also raising £10,000 for his family.

A post on Facebook from the pub said: “As a mark of respect to Dave's family the Lamb and Lion will remain closed until the funeral is held.

“The funeral is to start and finish at the lamb and lion, at the families request the Lamb will then open its doors once more. All of the plans laid are subject to change of course so please keep updated on our Facebook page.

“Again our condolences to Dave's family. All our love. Team Lion."

The fundraiser launch comes after Alfred Turner, 44, appeared in Chelmsford Crown Court on December 29 in connection with Mr Peck’s death

Turner, of Station Road, Westcliff, appeared in court charged with murder, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and two counts of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
