Traffic was stopped on a major Essex motorway this afternoon after a multiple vehicle crash near an airport.
There are long delays on the M11 southbound between junction 9 and junction 8 (Stansted Airport ) due to the crash.
Traffic was stopped and there were long delays of up to an hour while emergency services were at the scene.
Saffron Walden Fire Station said in a Facebook post: "We are currently at the Road Traffic Collision on M11 J10-J9 (Duxford-Stansted) South.
"Traffic is building up, please avoid if possible."
The crash was cleared to the hard shoulder and traffic has now been released in all lanes, however National Highways has warned drivers to allow time for delays to ease due to the 5.5 miles of congestion.
A spokesman said: "Please add an extra 50 to 55 minutes on to your current journey time."
