A MAN suffered “serious injuries” prompting police to launch an investigation which has so far been unable to determine whether or not he was attacked.
Police officers and paramedics received reports of an incident at an address in Cowdray Avenue, Colchester, shortly before noon on Sunday.
Accounts from eyewitnesses have since suggested the frontline workers were still in the area at least two and a half hours after arriving.
Officers are continuing to look into the situation but a spokesman for the force has confirmed no arrests have been made at this stage.
They have also said it remains "unclear" for investigating officers if the injured victim was assaulted or not.
No further details have been provided, but eyewitnesses have said they saw emergency services vehicles at the scene – including an ambulance outside a hotel.
Speaking anonymously, one resident said: “I was driving down Cowdray Avenue and immediately noticed an ambulance.
“Then a little further down the road I saw a police car and a paramedic car both parked up on the verge.
“I don’t what was going on but it seemed like something serious must have happened for all them to be there.”
