A WOMAN stabbed her former partner with a six-inch jaggededged knife in a drink and drug-fuelled rage, a court has heard.

Lisa Allen, 41, is on trial at Basildon Crown Court accused of deliberately stabbing the man in her home in Southchurch Road, Southend - but claims it was in self-defence.

Yesterday, the victim took to the witness box and told the court he did not use any force or threaten Allen during the incident on July 22.

He said: “I was watching TV and said something about the show and that triggered her.

She reached for something under her bed and I knew she kept a knife under there.

“I saw the knife in her hand, it had a brown handle, a jagged edge like a steak knife and it was about five or six inches long.

“She swung at me and stabbed me in the arm, I was shocked and she grabbed my arm to see what she had done.

“It was bleeding and then she grabbed my top and stabbed me in the stomach on my side.

It felt like a needle and I went to the front door and she came at me and she was angry.

“I knocked the knife away and had an injury to my wrist.

I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.”

He told the court she had drunk beer and taken cannabis on the day of the incident.

He told the jury how he left the home and went to nearby shops and started to suffer pain in his stomach.

He added: “Her mood would become unstable with the combination of drink and drugs and her demeanour changed.

“She was aggressive and paranoid and put me down. She always accused me of cheating.”

The court was told, and the man agreed, how he was convicted and sentenced for battery after attacking the defendant prior to this incident.

On Monday the jury was told how Allen claims the incident was “lawful self-defence”; however the prosecution claims the injuries were “intentionally caused” and that Allen followed the man to attempt to “stab him again”.

Allen is charged with wounding with intent, and having a bladed article in a public place.

She denies the charges.

The trial continues.
