Here are some familiar faces of Southend - as you have never seen them before.
Photographer Gaz De Vere is holding his The New Year, New You photographic portraits, exhibition depicting people as fantasy versions of themselves alongside a smaller image of them as they usually are.
“Various friends were invited to come up with an idea to represent a ‘new year, new you’ version of themselves,” explained Gaz.
“Some chose well-known fictional characters such as Thor, Indiana Jones and the Joker, whilst others went with aspirational themes such as turning 40 and taking up yoga.”
The exhibition also includes Jo Melville, who passed away last year, portrayed as a Tretchikoff painting.
“The aim is to ultimately produce a calendar of the images to support the work of The Ironworks in Southend,” said Gaz.
The exhibition runs at the Southend High Street-based arts centre, from January 15 until February 10.
There is a gofundme page to contribute towards the costs of the exhibition at www.gofundme.com/f/new-year-new-you-portrait-exhibition. All donations of £20 or more will get an exclusive set of postcard size prints of the portraits.
