A NEW business venture aims to offer an “all-in-one” experience with a new jazz club, café, hotel and gym right next to Southend Airport.
A group of entrepreneurs are say they are delivering a “unique experience” to Essex, as they gear up to open their new jazz club The Lounge next month.
Opening in Aviation Way, the club forms part of a three-storey building which will also boast a café and a gym.
Independent brewer Blackbox Brewery, which recently opened a taproom, is situated in the same building.
“We have some big names coming in to play the club when it opens,” Kevin MacDougall, one of the businessmen behind the scheme, said.
“What we are aiming to do is open a fine dining, entertainment venue where we have great acts on with good drinks, good food and create a really nice night out.
“We want to deliver an all-in-one experience for people who are coming in from further away to see a larger act.
“There is nowhere else in the Essex area that offers this kind of package.”
Several big names have already been booked in to play the club when it opens, including Beverley Knight best known for her hit singles "Greatest Day", "Shoulda Woulda Coulda", and "Come as You Are".
“No expense has been spared, there is a wow factor when you walk into the jazz club,” Mr MacDougall said.
“We have suede walls and velvet everywhere and a beautiful seating area, it’s a stunning looking club.”
Images of the development are set to be released ahead of the February 14 soft launch.
He added: “In the same building as the club we have built an absolutely stunning café which is almost ready to open to the public and a gym upstairs with over 30 spin bikes.”
The team behind the plans, The House Club Venue, are also set to open a nine-room “boutique” hotel opposite the venue in April.
The area around Southend Airport is fast becoming a hub for leisure and hospitality.
The 75-room Skylark Hotel is nearby, as well as the Saxon Hall events centre, the Athenaeum Club day spa and Blackbox Brewery’s taproom, also on Aviation Way.
