SOUTHEND’S legendary motorbiking Shakedown event will not be going ahead this year, organisers confirm.
Organisers of the huge biking event, Southend Shakedown, posted a statement on social media announcing with regret that they will not be organising a 2023 event.
Southend Shakedown is an event which usually draws up to 10,000 bikers to the seafront and is very popular among the community.

The 2022 event was the first one staged since the Covid pandemic struck.
The annual event was originally organised by Ace Cafe and they ran it for 18 years until it was cancelled in 2017.
But enthusiasts from across the country returned on their motorbikes, scooters and mopeds in 2019 for what was known as the Southend Shakedown – the Resurrection.
In a statement on the Southend Shakedown Resurrection Facebook group, organisers confirmed the decision.
They said: “It is with regret that the Southend Shakedown Committee will not be organising an event for this year 2023.
“We are looking, however, to put an organised event on again in 2024, providing we can get the necessary support from volunteers and other areas including funding.
“We would, however, like to stress that the city of Southend does welcome all visitors to enjoy everything that Southend has to offer.”
