The south Essex magistrates have been busy again with a range of cases.

Here's our latest round up of cases in front of the magistrates.

Brandon Pike, 25, of Midcolme, Vange was sentenced for attacking a woman and damaging property.

On May 2 2022 in Basildon without lawful excuse, he damaged an internal wall within the victims property and smashed a sugar pot to the value of unknown value belonging to a woman intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged.

He was discharged conditionally for 12 months.

On April 28 2022 in Basildon he assaulted a woman by beating her.

He was discharged conditionally for 12 months, a restraining order made for the defendant in the following terms: Not to contact directly or indirectly the woman, save through an agreed third party, for child contact, Not to enter Rowen Hall Road, Basildon.

He was ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £22, pay costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service, an application made for benefit deductions. Sum to be recovered £127.

Robert Cossington, 33, of Landsburg Road, Canvey was sentenced for a driving offence.

On March 21 on Canvey he used a motor vehicle, when there was not in force in relation to that use such a policy of insurance or such a security in respect of third party risks.

He was fined £120, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service and an application made for benefit deductions. Sum to be recovered £259.

On March 21 2022 on Canvey he used on a road, which section 47 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 applied and as respects which no test certificate had been issued within the appropriate period.

There was no separate penalty.

Peter Fox, 38, of North Road, Westcliff was in court in connection with attacking a woman.

On June 3 2022 in Southend he assaulted a woman thereby occasioning her, actual bodily harm.

He was committed to prison for 26 weeks suspended for 24 months.

He was ordered to participate in an accredited programme for 31 days, building better relationships, Rehabilitation Activity Requirement up to a maximum of 25 days.

James Hall, 36, of Wyburn Road, Benfleet was in court for failing to follow a court order.

He failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements of a community order made by Southend Magistrates Court on August 23 2021 by failing to attend an unpaid work appointment as instructed without reasonable excuse on the October 16 2022, he failed to attend a Drug Group Work Session as instructed without reasonable excuse on the December 6 2022 and by failing to provide an acceptable reason and/or supporting evidence for the absences within the specified time limit.

The order is to continue, he was fined £120, ordered to pay costs of £60, and an application was made for benefit deductions to the sum of £180.

Jamie Joseph, 31, of Bardfield Way, Rayleigh was in court for failing to follow a court order.

He failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements of a community order made by Southend Magistrates Court on September 22 2022 by failing to report as instructed without reasonable excuse on October 6 2022 and on November 22 2022.

Mr Joseph failed to provide acceptable documentary evidence of the reasons for the absences within the specified time limit .

The court ruled the order to continue, he was fined £60, ordered to pay costs of £60, an application was made for benefit deductions to the total of £120.

Ubaidullah Tarakahill, 28, of Sutton Road, Southend was fined after crashing into a cyclist.

On May 27 2022 in Southend he drove a car without due care and attention, in that he did not give way to a roundabout and crashed with a pedestrian on a pedal cycle, causing serious injuries.

He was fined £200, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, pay costs of £110, and his driving record endorsed with 6 points.
