Two teenagers have been arrested after reports of robberies at a popular south Essex shopping centre.

Police received reports of incidents at Lakeside between 7.30pm and 8.10pm  on Friday, February 3, in which mobile phones were taken.

A 15 year-old boy from Dagenham was later arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of a Class B or C drug, and counterfeit currency.

A 16 year-old boy from Grays was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

They have both been released on bail until April 18.

Acting Inspector Rob Thompson said: “We have an excellent partnership with Lakeside and it is that relationship which means we are able to quickly respond to incidents like this.

“We’re working hard with them to ensure you are safe when shopping, eating, or enjoying a night out at the shopping centre.”
