A pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Pitsea.

The man suffered the injuries in the crash which involved multiple vehicles in South Mayne after 1.05pm this afternoon, with multiple emergency services attending the scene.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance attended the A132 near South Mayne.

"One man with serious injuries was transported by road ambulance to The Royal London Hospital."

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We were called to South Mayne, Pitsea, shortly after 1.05pm on Thursday 9 February following reports of a crash involving several vehicles.

"We are currently on scene. There are road closures in place and we would ask drivers to avoid the area."
