FARMERS helped reopen a major south Essex road that was closed after a large amount of hay fell across the carriageway.
Essex Police had to close the A127 near Dunton Road for over an hour and a half after the hay fell from the back of large vehicle at about 3.30pm.

A diversion was put in place by the roundabout.
Thankfully, farmers from Basildon and Billericay turned up to help clear the road with their vehicles.
The road was reopened shortly after 5pm.
An Essex Police spokesman said: ”Thanks to some very helpful local farmers from across Basildon and Billericay the A127 was opened.”
