Plane enthusiasts will get the chance to experience Southend's Vulcan bomber thundering along the airport runway.

The impressive Vulcan XL426, which has taken up permanent residency at Southend Airport, will perform taxi-runs on Saturday May 20 and Saturday September 16.

The Avro Vulcan XL426 was flown to London Southend Airport in 1986 to be preserved as part of the UK’s aviation heritage.

The event on May 20 will be the Dam Busters Twilight Taxi-Run which will commemorate the 80th anniversary of 617 Squadron and the famous Dams Raid in May 1943.
