A PENSIONER has been “punched multiple times to the head” during a serious assault in a Benfleet supermarket car park.
A man, in his 70s, has been left with a "serious back injury" and "visible bruising" after a GBH assault in the Aldi car park, Rushbottom Lane.
The assault came following an altercation with a man in the car park after the pensioner reportedly accidently opened his car door onto the one next to his.

Despite allegedly apologising, the victim was punched to the face and head.
The suspect then left the location in a black Jaguar car.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Detectives investigating a GBH assault in Benfleet are asking for witnesses to contact us.
"The assault was reported to have taken place in the Aldi car park, Rushbottom Lane, at around 1.15pm on Tuesday 7 February.
"Following an altercation with a man in the car park, the victim, 70s, was punched to the face and head, causing visible bruising and a serious back injury.
"The suspect then left the location in a black Jaguar car.
"Please quote crime reference 42/24256/23 when providing any information to make sure it gets to the right person as quickly as possible."
