Dogs Trust are appealing for an animal lover to give its longest-waiting dog his forever home.

"Lovely" lurcher Blue Sky has been at Dogs Trust Basildon for more than 800 days

The 5-year-old brown eyed lurcher is described as a cuddly, sweet and affectionate boy who is looking for a quiet and understanding home, as the charity says he can be fearful of meeting new people.

He would need to wear a muzzle and be kept on his lead when out and about due to his "high chase drive".

Mr Blue must also have access to a private and secure garden in his new home as he loves to zoom around with his favourite toys.

The charity tweeted an appeal on Valentine's Day: "Roses are red, but we love all things Blue. Could this lovely lurcher be the dog for you? Mr Blue has been here for 800 plus days now, waiting the longest of all our dogs for a home."

What kind of home does Mr Blue need?

Dogs Trust Basildon says Mr Blue Sky needs to have an adult only home with no visiting children or other pets.

His new family will also need to commit to multiple visits at the Basildon rehoming centre to get to know his "quirky" personality before taking him home.

One of Mr Blue's carer's Alice says: "He is such a sweet boy who loves a fuss and a snuggle once he gets to know you! He will even try to squeeze himself on your lap."
