Crowds flocked to the Southend for a seafront disco with classic tracks and a giant mirror ball, which casted dazzling reflections across the seaside.

Disco City is part of this year's LuminoCity Festival of Light in Southend. With a dozen displays, the LuminoCity Festival will run until Saturday, with hundreds of thousands of people set to view the attractions.

It has seen the city filled with light installations, creating an interactive trail for residents stretching from the High Street down to the seafront.

DJ Darren Bull, who is one of the entertainers in the event, said: "What a great event Southend LuminoCity and Zero Radio’s Ian Reading Merv Griffiths and myself pumping out the tunes to the fantastic people."

 

After last year’s success, which saw more than 200,000 visitors attend, the 2023 LuminoCity Festival has stepped up to the next level.

Disco City at Cliff Gardens features Southend DJ legends from clubs past and present pumping out tunes under a huge two metre disco ball suspended from the observation tower footbridge next to Pier Hill.

This year’s illuminations are being sponsored by Southend Bid, Forward Motion, Southend Tourism Partnership and Atlantic Pacific Group.

Another new addition for this year is Ursula Lassos the Moon, a 3D realistic moon lassoed to a stake in the ground.
