A RAFT of improvement works at a popular Basildon fitness centre's pool will make it “more inviting for children”.
The learner pool at Basildon Sporting Village is set to shut from Saturday February 25 until Saturday March 25.
Swimming lessons in the learner pool will be cancelled during this period while a £68,000 project is underway to overhaul the area.

The pool and surrounding area will be retiled with higher quality slip resistance tiles, new energy efficient lighting and a splash of extra colour to improve the experience for kids.
The popular cartoon wall feature will also be extended.
Shaun Beagle, area contract manager at Basildon Sporting Village, said: “The learner pool will be temporarily closed for essential maintenance and upgrades between Saturday, February 25 and Saturday, March 25.

“We have invested £68,000 to improve the facilities for our swim lesson students. The improvements include re-tiling the area with a high-quality finish – offering better slip resistance, installing energy efficient lighting and extending the underwater cartoon feature wall to add further colour, making the area more inviting for children.
“We would like to thank customers for their patience in advance and will of course keep them updated as works progress. We look forward to welcoming everyone when we reopen the area with a new and improved look.”
Customers who have lessons will have their regular direct debit frozen on March 1 and restarted again on April 1 once the works have been completed.
A spokesman for Basildon Sporting Village added: "If you have other children on the swim scheme the sessions held in the main pool will take place as usual.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding."
