Don’t look back in anger at these photos of Oasis filming in Southend, look back with a supersonic air of nostalgia for the Britpop era.
The band were in Southend in April of 1995 for a performance at the Cliffs Pavilion.
The gig - for which tickets were just £8 - was filmed and released on VHS as Oasis’s first concert video called ‘Live By The Sea’.
But Liam and Noel Gallagher and their bandmates also took to Southend seafront to film the video for one of their early singles, Rock 'n' Roll Star and an Echo photographer was there to capture the action.
Images show the group on rides at Adventure Island and larking around on the seafront with the long lost Golden Hind replica ship in the background.
They also filmed inside the bowling alley on Southend Pier, which burnt down just two months later in a major fire.
These images have been gathering dust in our archives but have been resurrected thanks to volunteers at the Rayleigh Town Museum who have been working to help preserve our photographic archives.
