A £500,0000 revamp has been completed as Southend’s newest nightclub gets ready to open to a packed crowd tomorrow night.
The Echo was given an exclusive sneak peek inside Popworld today before the new Warrior Square venue opens tomorrow night.
The nightclub has been kitted out with a new light-up dancefloor, lip-shaped seats and a colourful interior.
On Saturday night there will be a performance from nineties boyband Five.
The venue will have a 380 capacity, and bosses claim to have “almost sold-out” tickets for opening night.
The revamp has seen the former Rhythm Room nightclub fully refurbished and is almost unrecognisable.
Manager Darren Guyan, who also runs MooMoo club opposite, said: “Five is an amazing boyband and they were the only people I wanted for our opening.
“We are almost sold out and the capacity is 380 people. Tickets sold pretty quickly and it looks like the club will be pretty popular.

“We pride ourselves on catering for a huge range of age groups, including anyone over the age of 18.
“I think our unique selling points are also the décor and music we offer too.
“We’ve spent about half a million on revamping the site and lots of that was spent on the new look, with some structural.
“I hope it will be a big boost to the city and its night-time economy.”
Popworld is a growing chain of nightclubs specialising in “cheesy pop music”, with sites up and down the country, including one in Chelmsford.
The venue was once a Chicago Rock Cafe, before it was transformed into Seymours under the ownership of Dick De Vigne.
Some years later he introduced another change of identity, to the Dick De Vignes nightclub, which became a staple of the city’s nightlife for 17 years.
In September 2021 it became the Rhythm Room.
Mr Guyan added: “We offer really fun cocktails and drinks, including sharing cocktails.
“We also have our shot Ferris wheel and our Gumball sharing cocktails.”
The chain describes itself as a late-night bar “with a difference”, boasting bright colours, sweet cocktails, light-up dancefloor and back-to-back “cheesy” pop tunes from the 90s and noughties.
Tonight’s launch will see the venue open from 8pm to 4am for the launch party. The tickets for the event are £9 per person.
The Nineties boyband will be performing all their hits live on stage at 12.30am.
