A PLUSH new bistro has opened “in the heart of Fobbing” offering a “vibrant and delectable” dining experience.

A spokesman for 53 said: “Our new vibrant and delectable dining experience is set in the heart of Fobbing at Fobbing Farm Shop.
“It is named after the year the farm on which it is sited began.
“The menu caters for every mood and occasion ranging from tried-and-tested classics to wholesome, hearty fare that warms the soul.
“A unique daytime menu promises classics of eggs benedict and savoury French toast for breakfast, to a slow-cooked pork belly, steamed sea bass, or local sausages for lunch.
“The dinner menu sees a fantastic selection of grilled meat dishes and a delicious tapas menu.
“All of this set in a beautifully-decorated and comfortably calm dining room allowing you to escape the bustle of the outside world.
“53 will be differentiated with a good restaurant design achieving equilibrium between the food, services and design.
“In effect, telling a complete story from start to finish.”
The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu is traditionally British and sets out to provide “simple, quality, fresh food from as many local suppliers as possible”.
For opening hours, breakfast is 9am until 11.30am, seven days a week. Lunch is 12pm until 3pm Monday to Saturday, and 12pm until 2.30pm on Sunday.
Dinner is then 5pm until 8pm Thursday to Saturday, and 3.30pm until 5.30pm on Sunday.
Kerry Smith, Independent councillor responsible for the Nethermayne ward, was delighted to hear of the opening of the business.
He said: “I think this will be a magnet for customers across Basildon and the surrounding areas.
“You can just cross over to Fobbing, without any parking issues, and have a nice meal.
“I can see it being very popular.
“It will be good for business in the area, and I think not having to pay to park unlike Eastgate, will increase the trade too.”
