A MAN in his 50s has died following a crash in Purfleet and police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage of the incident.
Officers were called to Jarrah Cottages, London Road, shortly before 3.25pm on Friday, March 10, following reports of a serious collision in which an artic lorry left the road and was in collision with several properties.
The road was closed whilst police, ambulance and fire emergency services dealt with the situation.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Despite the best efforts of paramedics and the public, a man in his 50s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin have been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
“No other person was injured.”
The road currently remains partially closed and One lane is closed with temporary traffic lights in place in the immediate vicinity of the collision.
No diversions are currently in place.
The Essex Police spokesman added: “We continue to work with partners whilst an assessment is made by specialists on how best to recover the vehicle.
“Thurrock Council are offering support to those affected.”
