A TEENAGER was “threatened with a knife” during a theft on Canvey as his mum expresses her shock and disgust.
The 13-year-old boy had just visited KFC in the High Street, Canvey to pick up a takeaway for himself and his sister on Sunday at 5.45pm before he was targeted.
When he began to walk home down the High Street, he was allegedly followed by two boys who were asking him “What is in the bag?” and “Let us have a look”.

His mum, who wishes not to be named, said her son tried to ignore them and carry on walking.
She said: “He ignored them and walk on but one of them then grabbed the bag off him.
"My son then tried to get it back.
“One of the boys, who was wearing a balaclava, told him ‘I have a knife,’ and reached to his pocket to pull it out.
“My son then went to run off and was then pushed into the road by the boys, before they the ran off towards Chamberlain Road.
“He then rang me, all shaken, and my husband went straight out to collect him.
“He is OK, just shaken and bruised.”
The 13-year-old said it was two boys, one with a balaclava. They were wearing black bottoms and coats. One of them also had a black and gold mountain bike.
The Canvey mum added how she now feels like her children can’t go out without being worried.
She said: “As a mother, I feel shocked and disgusted this had happened.
“I feel scared this is happening in our society and community too.
“I feel like knife crime is becoming the norm and that those using them or threatening people with them are becoming younger.
“I feel like my children can’t go out now without feeling worried and threatened.”
Essex Police is aware of the incident and has urged anyone who witnessed it to come forward.
A spokesman for said: “We are appealing for any information following an incident that occurred in High Street, Canvey, yesterday, March 12, around 5:45pm.
“The suspects are described as both white, 15-16 years old, the first suspect was skinny build wearing a ski mask or balaclava, the second suspect was larger build wearing black clothing.”
