DETECTIVES are investigating after a man was seriously injured in a reported hit and run near a railway station.
Police officers were called to Radford Way in Billericay, near the town's train station, shortly before 1.30am on Saturday.
It followed reports of a man being hit by a car and the driver of the vehicle not stopping at the scene.
Essex Police said officers from its Serious Crime Directorate are investigating the incident with colleagues from the British Transport Police.

The entrance to the train station remained blocked until shortly before 10.45am with First Bus' 300 and 9 services being disrupted.
An Echo reader on Twitter told the Echo there was “lots of police presence, ambulance” plus “forensics” at the scene during the early hours of this morning.
The police cordons have now been removed.
An Essex Police spokeswoman added: “The cordons which were placed at the scene have since been removed but local residents may notice an increased police presence today whilst inquiries continue.
“Anyone who may have witnessed anything is asked to contact us, quoting incident 87 of March 18.”
