A DEAL has been completed for an axe throwing bar boasting beer ping and much more to open across two floors in a Southend High Street shopping centre.
Boom Battle Bar, an “adventure bar chain” has confirmed that contracts have finally been signed for the firm to open in the Victoria Shopping Centre.
It will be located in the former Tangs Buffet Unit at the Victoria Shopping Centre and would operate across two floors.

The chain already has venues in a number of UK destinations, including Lakeside, Chelmsford, Norwich, as well as London to name a few.
Bosses say the Southend venue will feature games like beer and prosecco pong, augmented reality axe throwing, boom box private karaoke booths, augmented reality darts, and shuffleboard.
Richard Harpham, CEO at Boom Battle Bar, said: “We are delighted to be bringing the boom to the iconic Southend.
“After the success of our venues in both Chelmsford and Lakeside, we can’t wait to bring mates, dates and colleagues together for nights of adrenaline-packed fun in this third Essex venue.”
Alongside the games, there will be a premium bar with cocktails and “delicious” street food featuring classics such as dirty fries and chicken tenders.
There will also be packages for hen, stag, and birthday arrangements as well as themed bottomless brunch available.
Bosses confirmed the contracts were signed this week and the deal is now done.
Since being purchased by Southend Council in December 2020, the Victoria Shopping Centre has been transformed to offer a number of “non-retail” experiences.
IndiRock, an indoor boulder climbing centre has opened on the top floor, while non-urgent blood tests are taking place on the ground floor.
Carole Mulroney, Liberal Democrats councillor responsible for environment, culture and tourism, was delighted to hear the deal was done.
She said: “Boom Battle Bar is one of those organisations spreading across the country and is incredibly popular.
“This is such a boost to the Victoria Shopping Centre, especially when something takes up such a large space.
“Leisure is one of those things we have to focus on as retail is not what it was, and it is good that the Victoria Centre is there and is being marketed effectively.
“It is also great to offer this and shows from a company that is rapid expanding that they have confidence in coming to Southend.
“Hopefully this could even act as a catalyst for other business to join too.
“This is a great addition.”
