AN ATTACKER repeatedly stabbed a man with a “giant” knife with the blade plunging so far into his body “the handle hit his skin”, a court has been told.
Two brothers are standing trial at Basildon Crown Court charged in connection with the attack in Valkyrie Road, Westcliff, in the early hours of Saturday, October 30, 2021.
Curtis Butler, 23, has denied attempted murder and having an article with a blade or point and his brother, Paul Butler, 22, has denied a charge of intimidating a witness.
The court watched a video recording of a police interview with a witness yesterday.
During the interview, she said: “It went in so far the handle hit his skin, I thought how is this even happening.
“It was a giant knife and was shimmering and all I can see is the victim’s face, with his blond hair all blood red.
“We crossed the road and he was stabbed twice in the back on the bridge, then once more, he then ran and fell and was stabbed four times.
“When he fell and was stabbed it was worse as he was exposed.

The young man with the knife said ‘I’ve seen you on the news, I know you, you raped that girl.”
The court previously heard that the victim, a man in his late 20s, was walking along the road with a friend when a man wearing a balaclava approached and attacked him.
Police and ambulance crews arrived on the scene and took the victim to Southend Hospital where he was treated for stab wounds.
The witness added: “I was trying to talk to the victim and was running around banging on doors.
“I shouted at a guy and told him to get some scissors, I knew I needed to put pressure on the wounds but couldn’t find them. I knew all I could do was try and stop the bleeding.
“I thought he was going to die.”
Both Curtis Butler, of Great Gregorie, Basildon, and Paul Butler, of, Royston Southend, deny the charges against them. The trial continues
