A MAJOR road in Essex has been partially closed after a serious crash in which a car was trapped under a lorry.
Essex firefighters were tonight at the scene of the crash on the A120 eastbound, between Stansted and Takeley. They were called to the scene at 9.23pm.
Two crews from Chelmsford, Stansted and the Urban Search and Rescue team attended and found a car trapped under a lorry.
The driver of the car, who was conscious and breathing throughout, was freed and was left in the care of the Ambulance Service.
The fire service said crews were working with emergency services and other partners to stabilise and move the lorry and bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
A spokesman added at 11.10pm tonight (Friday): "The eastbound carriageway is closed between Stansted and Takeley and a diversion is in place."
Station manager Howard Midwood said: "I'd like to thank our crews who responded brilliantly and are continuing to support other agencies at the scene.
"I would urge drivers to avoid the area if possible and to take extra care on the roads due to the heavy rainfall we have experienced recently."
