A man died after being "struck" by a vehicle in a crash in Great Wakering, an inquest has heard.
Garry Seaton, 64, died in the crash in Rebels Lane on March 17. An inquest into his death was opened this morning at Essex Coroners Court in Chelmsford.
Emergency services were called to the crash at 8.40pm and the road was shut for a period of time.
The Echo understands Mr Seaton owned Essex Motorcycles Limited, Princes Avenue, Westcliff.
Coroner's officer Deborah Frost said: "This inquest is related to Garry Seaton from Great Wakering in Southend.
"Mr Seaton passed away at the scene. Essex Police are investigating the matter. Dr Swift provided a provisional cause of death from the post-mortem of 1A pending toxicology and histology."
Coroner Lincoln Brookes said: "I open the inquest into the death of Garry Seaton and I adjourn. I am not going to set a date as I have a written request from Essex Police and will suspend until the police have concluded the investigation. I will review it in at least six months."
