A man was attacked in a Southend street, sparking a large police presence, large areas shut off with cordons and two arrested.

Essex Police was called shortly after 4.15pm yesterday after reports of a man carrying a knife at Chichester Road.

Areas of the road and also Warrior Square were shut off with police cordons and officers on the scene.

Medics from the East of England Ambulance Service were also on the scene and treated a man, 20s.   

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and a weapon has been recovered.

DC Hopgood, leading the investigation, said “We’ve already made two arrests very quickly, but we’d like to ask the public and anyone who was in the area at the time, to help us.

“You can approach officers in the area and tell us what you know. They will be there carrying out investigative work.

“Alternatively, if you have dash cam or other footage, please get in touch as soon as you can.”
