A man was attacked during a violent burglary at a home on Canvey.

Police were contacted about the aggravated burglary in Champlain Avenue, shortly after 8.50pm last night.

It was reported that two men had entered an address before threatening and assaulting a man inside.

Police say there were no serious injuries.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We are investigating a number of lines of enquiry in relation to the incident and we now believe it may be connected to a prior incident outside KFC, in High Street, Canvey, which took place between 8.20pm and 8.30pm.

"During that incident, it was reported that a group of young people were fighting."

“Two arrests have been made thanks to the quick detective work of officers and our investigation into the earlier incident is progressing at pace.

“We must stress that at this stage, we believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the Canvey community.”
