A victim who suffered a "serious" arm injury in a Southend street is still in hospital, as a third male has been arrested in connection with the attack.
Officers were called to reports of a man carrying a knife in Chichester Road at around 4.15pm yesterday.
Ambulance service medics found a man, aged in his 20s, had suffered a serious arm injury. He is continuing to receive hospital treatment.
A 17-year-old boy, from Westcliff, and an 18-year-old man, from Rayleigh, were arrested initially on suspicion of GBH and remain in custody for questioning.
A third person, a 15-year-old boy, has been arrested this afternoon on suspicion of GBH.
Essex Police says the enquiries into the incident are progressing thanks in large part to the "good" work of Southend Council's CCTV system and the police force's partnership working with the Council's through the Community Safety Partnership.
Acting Detective Inspector Matt Harriss said: “This was a serious incident which will naturally cause concern amongst members of the public, but we believe it to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the community in Southend.
“Our officers will continue to maintain a visible presence in the area this evening to reassure residents.
“At this stage, three people are now in custody and we now believe we have a strong understanding of the circumstances around the incident." If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us."
