A pedestrian was injured in a crash which shut a busy Southend road in both directions.
Police and the ambulance service were called to Sutton Road this afternoon following the crash.
Images show Sutton Road closed in both directions near Vale Avenue, with a police cordon and police vehicles on the scene.
Various residents have taken to social media to post about the incident. Images show the police tape across the whole road.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We were called to a road traffic accident on Sutton Road in Southend.
"An ambulance was in attendance. One patient was conveyed to Southend University Hospital in a stable condition.
"There are reports of a pedestrian being injured."
Essex Police has been contacted for comment.
