A woman remains in hospital hours after suffering leg injuries in a crash in Southend.

Police and an ambulance crew were called to the incident in Sutton Road yesterday at about 1pm.

The pedestrian, a woman, was taken to hospital with leg injuries and police say she's being supported by officers.

Essex Police also says officers responded to the incident quickly and two men have been arrested.

A spokesman for the force said: "Two men arrested on suspicion of drug driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.

"They remain in custody for questioning. The woman remains in hospital for treatment."
