A SOUTH Essex MP has stated he “stands in support” of Sweyne Park School after a disappointing Ofsted rating.
Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, said he was surprised to learn about the downgrade, but he has “great confidence” in the school and headteacher.

The Sweyne Park School, in Sir Walter Raleigh Drive, Rayleigh, was rated “requires improvement” overall after an Ofsted inspection on February 21 and 22.
However, the Rayleigh MP insists he stands by the school and believes any behaviour issues will be rectified.

Mr Francois said: “Having known this school well for over twenty years I was surprised to learn that that Sweyne Park has been downgraded by Ofsted from ‘outstanding’ to ‘requires improvement’.
“Nevertheless, I have great confidence in the head, Mrs Dines, and her team at the school and I am sure that any issues, which apparently relate to behaviour can and will be rectified.
“In short, I stand by the school.”
