A FAMILY-run Benfleet restaurant is set to open a second site as it branches into Leigh to capitalise on its success.
Asia Benfleet has announced it will open a takeaway, called Asia Leigh, with the announcement sparking excitement on social media.
The Leigh site will be based at 187 Elmsleigh Drive, Leigh, at the former site of a popular Chinese takeaway Binh Wah.

Binh Wah closed on New Year’s Eve after 20 years with bosses saying the decision was made due to “soaring costs”.
Waheed Khan, 27, is the owner of both Asia Benfleet and Asia Leigh restaurants, made the move after noticing a number of people in Leigh were travelling to the Benfleet restaurant.
It will still be based around Indian and Bangladeshi food as well as serving “authentic fried chicken”.
Waheed said: “We are extremely excited to open up a new branch and start serving the community of Leigh with great food and amazing service.
“It is going to be just a takeaway and offering collection and delivery services within a four-mile radius.
“We made this decision due to having a lot of people in Leigh using our Benfleet restaurant.
“We thought it would be a no brainer to open up another site here and expand our customer base further.”
The store in Leigh will differ from the Benfleet one, by being just takeaway and collection, instead of a restaurant.
Asia Benfleet first opened back in August 2019, and has proved a hit among diners and critics alike.
In December, Ali Abbas Khan, the chef at the Benfleet restaurant, was named chef of the year at the Euro Asia Curry Awards.
Waheed added: “Without the customer support for Asia Benfleet this wouldn’t have been possible and we are so grateful.
“The aim for the future is to firstly become established in Leigh by serving amazing food.
“We hope to be as successful as our branch in Benfleet.
“We are very dedicated to make this a success and we can’t wait to start serving the people of Leigh and getting to know the community.”
