A FIRM which has worked on smash hit television series and films such as Bridgerton, The Witcher, Rocketman and Kingsman is coming to Southend.
CAMA, which provides specialist sustainability storage and logistic services to the film and TV industry, is set to invest £7.5million moving into Southend Airport’s Business Park.
Bosses say the move will allow the firm to work closely with a host of production and filming companies setting up shop in the Thames Estuary Production Corridor – a Mayor of London led initiative to create a global-leading region for television and film.
Michaele Apostolides, director CAMA AssetStore, said: “This new development in Southend meets our unique needs for sustainability focused storage and reuse services for two exciting industries.
“We wanted to be based in a purpose-built warehouse large and accessible enough to grow our reuse services for the film and construction industry.
“We are seeing such a positive change in both industries. Within film and TV there is a major commitment from the studios to invest in the efficient repurposing of sets, props and costumes.
"It is this passion for storage and reuse of production assets that is driving our development with this new build in Southend.”
The firm currently has bases in Dagenham, Rainham and Suffolk.
Mr Apostolides added: “By helping us to avoid single use film production and construction assets, this new base for CAMA is enabling both industries to reduce their carbon emissions and bottom line.
“Essex is close to our hearts, so having our base there, with all the studio developments close by is an exciting opportunity for our family business.”
Bosses at CAMA say they hope to form partnerships with prop houses, costumiers, arts organisations, theatres, film schools, college and charities in the area.
The firm has a long history of working with pupil in Barking and Dagenham, organising competitions, giveaways and training opportunities to youngsters.
Director of CAMA Michelle French added: "Our focus on social sustainability has supported our vibrant community in London borough of Barking and Dagenham and we are looking forward to launching similar social value initiatives with Southend Council.”
