Enjoy a blast from the past with an old-school Garage night, featuring a line-up of talent spinning the best in garage music.

Taking place at N Dance in Southend this Saturday night, it will be headed up by the UK Garage artist MC Kie, with guest performances from Funky SX’s DJ Andy Unique and Sandie Soraiya.

Hoping to be a sell out success, the night is to raise the roof and funds for cancer-equipment appeal. They aim to raise £600,000 to buy state-of-the-art radiotherapy equipment to improve the lives of patients at Southend Hospital.

The night of music will run from 8pm to 2am and all proceeds from the event will benefit Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation’s Spotlight Radiotherapy Appeal.

It is organised by Foundation Trustee, Emma Cox, who is more used to organising black tie balls, but says it has been a real blast.

Emma said: "Garage music is all about bringing people together and creating a positive energy, and we're excited to channel that energy into something that will make a real difference for those undergoing radiotherapy treatment at Southend Hospital.”

UK garage originated the mid-1990s and was inspired by garage house with dance-pop, R&B, and jungle mixed in.

Synonymous with the era was Mc Kie who was a regular on the UK Garage circuit with MC Sparks, who sadly passed away in 2014.

The evening will be a blast from the past for many UK Garage fans who enjoyed dancing the night away in the nineties and noughties.

Proceeds from the evening will directly benefit the charitable foundation’s latest appeal, the Spotlight Radiotherapy Appeal which aims to raise £600,000 to purchase Surface Guided Radiation Therapy equipment.

The equipment will make the hospital one of only a few in the country that are able to offer this state-of-the-art radiotherapy delivery system and promises to dramatically transform the experience of those undergoing radiotherapy treatment at Southend Hospital.

Tickets for the evening are priced at £20 each and include entry and a welcome drink. Tickets are available from the charity office at Southend hospital on 01702 385337, by emailing mse.charity@nhs.net) or direct from the ‘Charity Garage Night’ Facebook page.
