A NEW dessert parlour boasting a tantalising menu packed with tasty ice creams, waffles and even a chocolate kebab has opened its doors at a former Eastwood post office.
Flavours Gelato opened for the first time on Monday in its new parlour at 155 Rayleigh Road.
A grand opening was held which saw residents benefit from discounts and get to taste test some desserts.
The business - which has chain parlours in London - is known for its unique chocolate kebab, described as England’s “first ever chocolate kebab”.
The company prides itself on making “the best desserts from premium and healthy ingredients and working towards creating new and exciting flavours that tantalize your taste buds”.
Kimberley O’Connell, 48, from Eastwood, said: “It’s been a work in progress for a long time and the kids in the area have been waiting for it to open.
“My 15-year-old went in there yesterday and came back with a milkshake and was raving about it.
“You get people moaning about the rubbish, but I just think it’s better to have a business in there rather than an empty shop.
“It’s good to see a shop opening and its good for some investment in the area.
“It has brightened up the area as the empty shop was looking quite old.
“There’s quite a few schools in the area, so it’s good for all the kids.
“It’s nice you can eat in there too, as it’s like a little diner in there, there’s nothing like that on the corner.
“It’s not like its going to be open late, so there’s not going to be people hanging around at night making noise.
“No empty shops is a good thing and none of them are empty on that strip now so it’s great.
“I’m looking forward to trying the menu.”
The dessert shop serves a range of sweet treats, ice creams, waffles, crepes, milkshakes, cakes, smoothies and more.
The business has one shop in Bermondsey, London and another in Dagenham.
